Uzbekistan’s ICT sector attracts US$1.2bn foreign investments in past five years

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of foreign investments, attracted to development of communication and information technologies, exceeded US$1.2 billion in past five years, a roundtable titled “Current state and perspectives of improving legislation in telecommunication” said.

The Committee of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on information and communication technologies organized the roundtable.

It was said that stable and proportional development of telecommunication sector, income of the industry’s enterprises rose by 5.5% year-on-year.

The roundtable noted that the priority directions of telecommunication sector are step-by-step transfer to digital telecommunication network, introduction of new technologies, speed up introduction of information technologies into public governance, etc.

After the discussions, the participants developed recommendations on further improving legislation in telecommunication sector.
