Uzbekistan’s Government takes measures to repatriate the bodies of traffic accident victims from Russia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Government of Uzbekistan has taken all necessary steps to expedite the resolution of organizational matters related to the repatriation of the bodies of those who died in a traffic accident in Russia. This was announced by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia.

On 1 September 2024, a road traffic accident occurred on the M-12 "Vostok" federal highway in the Navashinsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, resulting in the deaths of eight people, seven of whom have been identified as Uzbek citizens. Three individuals were injured and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Following the instructions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the government has implemented the necessary measures to ensure the swift repatriation of the victims’ bodies to their homeland.

The Embassy emphasized that this matter is under the special supervision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Moscow.

Representatives from the General Consulate in Kazan and the Agency for External Labor Migration are on-site to provide the necessary assistance.
