As earlier reported, foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan reached US$4.321 billion in January-March 2010. The growth rate of foreign trade turnover made up 31.91% year-on-year in the first three months of 2011.
Foreign trade surplus exceeded US$1.2 billion in the first quarter of 2011 against US$1.081 billion in the same period of 2010.
The measures adopted to develop export potential of industries and territories helped to increase exports of Uzbekistan by 28.5% year-on-year to US$3.5 billion in the reporting period.
Uzbekistan increased exports of machinery and equipment (2.6 times), ferrous and non-ferrous metals (51%), chemical products (30.1%) and food products (48.9%) in the first quarter of 2011.
