Uzbekistan’s First Ambassador to Serbia Assumes Official Duties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Serbia, Oybek Shakhavdinov, who is based in Budapest, has officially commenced his duties by presenting copies of his credentials to Branko Radovanović, Head of the Diplomatic Protocol Department at the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The news was reported by the Dunyo Information Agency.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda and reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing and strengthening Uzbekistan–Serbia relations.
The Serbian side welcomed the appointment of Uzbekistan’s first-ever ambassador to Serbia, noting that this milestone will mark a significant step toward expanding the full range of bilateral cooperation.
Oybek Shakhavdinov has served as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Hungary since March 2024 and concurrently represents the country in Slovenia, Croatia, and Montenegro.
He is a graduate of the University of Birmingham (UK), Tashkent State University of Law, and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). Since 2001, he has worked within Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, holding various senior positions at the central office, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Brussels. Prior to his current appointment, he headed the Department for Cooperation with European Countries and EU Institutions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
