The Ministry of Justice said that instead of these coins and banknotes, new coins with the nominal value of 50, 100, 200 and 500 soums of the 2018 sample will be issued.
Uzbekistan intends to stop circulation of 50 and 100 soums coins and 50, 100, 200 and 500 soums banknotes. This was reported by the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan in its Telegram-channel.
At the same time, 500-soum coins, which were manufactured in 2011, will remain in circulation.
According to the Ministry of Justice, 50 and 100-soum coins will be withdrawn from circulation by 1 July 2019, and banknotes with a face value of 200 and 500 soums – by 1 July 2020.
Commercial banks should accept withdrawn bills and coins without any restrictions or additional fees.
