Uzbekistan to launch production of fiber-optic cable
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Uzbekistan plans to launch a plant on production of fibre-optic cable, acting Minister of Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov said.
He said that the plant will be built in the Chilanzar district on the premises of the joint stock company “Rele I Avtomatika”.
Sherzod Shermatov said that Uzbektelecom will require 227,000 km of fibre-optic cable until 2021. The localization level will be 55%.
The Minister noted that as a result of this project, Uzbekistan will save about US$150 million of foreign currency resources.
