Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan launched to implement a program of the Earth and space research in peaceful purposes under the agreement signed by the governments of Russia and Uzbekistan.

“The cooperation in this sphere between two countries is included in priority trends,” Vakil Gataullin, director of state unitary enterprise Center of the Earth remote sensing and geographic informational system of technologies,” told to Trend Capital.

A state-run navigating-informational system of territory monitoring using space results and mainly global space navigating system GLONASS will be created in the country, he said.

The united center to systematize and practically use the geographic, cartographic, natural resort, social economic, land, regional, landscape, transport, meteorological and ecologic information will be set up in the country.

“The Russian Academy of Sciences and Russian cosmos as well as some Russian Research Institutes became our partners,” Gataullin said.

The center has launched system research using satellite information for scientific and practical purposes.

“Photos of 15 specific zones are needed. Methods of modern satellite information decoding to know precisely the location of hard minerals, mainly nonferrous and precious metals are required. It is necessary to know where exactly to drill artesian wells, where dangerous natural phenomenons, threat for hydraulic facilities occur, for example, if there are splits in dams”.

Photos of Uzbekistan’s territory are taken from Russian satellite Monitor, as well as from U.S and Canadian satellites. “I hope the native satellite Uzbeksat, which has been said to start for a long time, will be launched soon,” Gataullin said.
