Uzbekistan to Host 11th Meeting of Tourism Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The 10th Meeting of Tourism Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States was held in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye. The Uzbek delegation was led by Jamshid Abdusalamov, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Tourism.
During his address, Abdusalamov presented a detailed overview of the sweeping reforms carried out in Uzbekistan's tourism sector in recent years. He highlighted that the number of countries whose citizens can enter Uzbekistan visa-free has reached 95. As a result, the tourist flow has tripled: in 2024 alone, the country welcomed more than 10 million foreign visitors. Uzbekistan has also been ranked among the world’s four fastest-growing tourism markets by the UN World Tourism Organization.
The session placed special emphasis on the role of tourism as a powerful tool for promoting peace, international stability, and intergovernmental cooperation in the face of global challenges and geopolitical shifts.
The Uzbek delegation also put forward several initiatives aimed at promoting joint efforts to market the tourism potential of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States and to strengthen coordination among the relevant institutions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ankara was officially designated the tourism capital of the Organization of Turkic States. It was also announced that the 11th Meeting of Tourism Ministers will be hosted by Uzbekistan.
