Uzbekistan to harvest cotton with machines

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan pays a great attention to issues of harvesting of raw cotton with machines, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyayev said at the opening ceremony of the Ninth International Uzbek Cotton and Textile Fair in Tashkent.

He said that over 1,000 units of cotton harvesting machines were used to cotton harvesting this year. He said that the harvesting machines were produced at Tashkent Tractor Plant in cooperation with South Korea and Italy.

Shavkat Mirziyayev said that machines are making great contribution to cotton harvesting. It is planned to deliver over 3,000 cotton harvesting machines of local production to farmers, he said.

At the same time, he said that Uzbekistan continues work on improving cotton harvesting machines. He said six new cotton harvesting machines, which use latest technical solutions, are tested now.

Uzbek Prime Minister said that Uzbekistan plans to collect 80-90% of cotton with help of machines from 2016.
