Uzbekistan to establish fintech office under Central Bank to support digital innovation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is establishing a specialized fintech office under the Central Bank, which will serve as a key body for developing success criteria and managing processes in the field of digital financial technologies.
The initiative has been endorsed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who also approved plans to create an innovation hub for accelerating startups, implementing new ideas, and attracting investment.
According to Timur Ishmetov, Chairman of the Central Bank, the new office will engage with startups, facilitate the implementation of open banking systems, and support the digitalization of banking infrastructure. In addition, it will assist in attracting foreign investment, including venture capital funds.
The establishment of the fintech office is seen as a step toward turning Uzbekistan into a regional hub for financial technologies. Among the objectives are training up to 1,000 specialists, testing around 100 startup developments, and organizing international fintech festivals.
