Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Based on the results of 2023, the volume of natural gas exports from Uzbekistan to China decreased by almost half, according to the report of the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China.
In December, gas supplies from Uzbekistan to China amounted to US$54.5 million, which decreased by less than 1% compared to November.
According to data for January-December last year, the total volume of natural gas exports from Uzbekistan to China amounted to US$563.53 million, which is 47.4% less than in 2022.
The leadership in gas supplies to China is held by Turkmenistan, which supplied US$9.6 billion worth of gas over 12 months. Russia took second place, almost doubling its natural gas exports, reaching US$6.43 billion. They are followed by Myanmar (US$1.46 billion) and Kazakhstan (US$1.32 billion).
According to the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan, the total volume of Uzbek gas exports last year amounted to US$529.9 million, which is 42.7% lower than in 2022. According to the Uzbek side, in December the volume of gas supplies exceeded US$20 million.
