Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will continue to work on the privatization of commercial banks, said Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan Bekhzod Khamrayev during a speech in the Senate.
He recalled that, within the framework of the Tashkent Investment Forum, the Government of Uzbekistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed an agreement on joint preparations for the privatization of one of the largest state financial institutions in the country - Asakabank JSC.
Within the framework of this forum, agreements were also reached on preparations for the transformation of Uzpromstroybank with the consulting company Rothschild, Khamrayev added.
According to him, the International Finance Corporation, the EBRD and KPMG will also take part in preparations for the privatization of the bank.
Khamraev noted that Uzbekistan plans to continue work on the privatization of medium-sized banks.
