Uzbekistan to Build New Tashkent–Charvak Highway

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Government of Uzbekistan plans to construct a new highway connecting Tashkent with Charvak. The announcement was made by Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov in an interview with the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.

According to the minister, the decision was made following the President’s review of the project and is aimed at improving transport accessibility to the Charvak–Chimgan recreational area, which covers the Tashkent and Syrdarya regions as well as the capital.

He noted that in recent years the region has attracted significant investment, driving active development of the tourist zone. However, the current road has become overburdened and can no longer cope with the growing flow of visitors.
“At the initiative of the esteemed President, it was decided to construct a new highway in this direction,” Makhkamov emphasized.

He added that the project concept has already been presented and will be implemented through a competitive bidding process involving leading companies under a public-private partnership model.

“The construction of the new Tashkent–Charvak highway will be carried out without altering the existing route,” the minister stated.
