Uzbekistan to abandon terrestrial analogue TV
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will abandon terrestrial analogue television soon, head of the department of the Ministry of Development of Information Technologies and Communication Sirojiddin Usmanov said.

He said that the draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers “On organization of abolishment of terrestrial analogue television in Uzbekistan” was prepared.

Sirojiddin Usmanov added that the draft resolution is agreed with interested ministries and departments now.

He said that the analogue TV will be abolished in line with the schedule, indicated in the draft resolution. Uzbekistan will fully introduce digital television.

“In any case, this process will be painless. The document, for example, takes into account that low-income families will be able to buy digital devices due to the soft loan,” he said.

Sirojiddin Usmanov underlined that till the end of 2017 it is planned to install 66 powerful digital TV transmitters in large cities and regional centers and 328 low-power transmitters in remote and hard-to-reach settlements.

“New and existing transmitters will fully cover the territory of Uzbekistan,” he said.
