Uzbekistan takes first place at the World Boxing Championship

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan took first place in the team event at the World Boxing Championship, having won five gold, two silver and two bronze medals, the press service of the Olympic Committee of the Republic reported on 14 May.

“Domestic masters of leather gloves won 5 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Of course, this result allowed the national team of Uzbekistan to take first place in the team event,” the press service reports.

It is stated that Uzbek boxers have never performed so well at any world championship.

It is reported that gold at the World Championships was won in the category up to 51 kg by Hasanboy Dusmatov, in the category up to 57 kg by Abdumalik Khalokov, in the category up to 63.5 kg gold was won by Ruslan Abdullaev, in the category up to 67 kg - Asadhuja Muydinkhojaev, and in the category over 92 kg - Bahadir Jalolov. Silver medals were claimed in the 54 kg category by Oybek Juraev, and in the up to 71 kg category by Saijamshid Jafarov.

At the same time, Uzbek boxers Alokhon Abdullaev won the bronze in the category up to 75 kg, and Lazizbek Mullozhonov - in the category up to 92 kg.

From 30 April to 14 May  in Tashkent in the Humo Arena sports complex, under the auspices of the IBA, the World Boxing Championship among men was held. Uzbekistan took first place, Kazakhstan took second place, winning four gold and one bronze medals in the overall standings. Russia also took third place, winning two gold and four bronze medals.

Because of the admission of Russians and Belarusians, the World Championship under the auspices of the IBA was boycotted by Great Britain, the USA, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Canada, Sweden, New Zealand, as well as Ukraine.

Due to the detrimental influence of the IBA on boxing, the International Olympic Committee is holding its own qualification for the Olympic Boxing Tournament in Paris. In the future, boxing may be removed from the Olympics.
