Uzbekistan Strengthens Tourism Cooperation within the SCO
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 July 2025, the city of Qingdao, China, hosted a meeting of the heads of tourism administrations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, with Uzbekistan represented by First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Tourism, Jamshid Abdusalamov.
The main objective of the event was to enhance multilateral cooperation in the tourism sector, discuss joint initiatives, and coordinate actions aimed at boosting tourism exchange among SCO countries.
During the session, particular attention was given to simplifying visa procedures for tourists, developing and promoting transnational tourism routes, and organizing joint cultural and tourism-related events.
In his address, Jamshid Abdusalamov emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation within the SCO framework, highlighting the vast potential for developing cultural, ecological, and event tourism. He also underscored Uzbekistan’s successful experience in implementing digital solutions in the tourism sector, which has significantly improved service quality and increased access to travel information.
Participants further discussed the need to establish a sustainable and systematic dialogue between the tourism authorities of SCO member states, coordinate marketing strategies, and regularly exchange analytical data on tourism market trends.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the participants’ commitment to continue active collaboration in creating a unified tourism space within the SCO. Initiatives aimed at promoting the region as a single, attractive destination for international travelers were broadly supported.
