Uzbekistan, South Korea sign agreement on the opening of a research center for the development of e-government

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 December 2019, in the city of Sejong (Republic of Korea), a signing ceremony of the Agreement between the National Agency for Project Management under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security of the Republic of Korea on the establishment of a joint Center for cooperation on e-government and digital economy.

This agreement was signed in the framework of the implementation of the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 29, 2019 "On measures to further expand and strengthen cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea."

During the event, the parties noted that the Center being created would strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of e-government and the digital economy.

According to the signed document, the Korean side will provide US$2 million free of charge for the development of the e-government of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Korean side delegates three highly qualified employees in the field of e-government and the digital economy to work at the Center for 3 years on an ongoing basis.

The official opening ceremony of the Center in Tashkent is scheduled for late January 2020.

It is noted that the newly created Center will provide expert support in the development of EP and CE based on Korean experience.

In addition, on 18 December, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security of the Republic of Korea held a meeting of the Korean digital government for diplomatic missions and the Agency delegation headed by Deputy Director Pak Vyacheslav took part in it as honored guests.

In addition to representatives of state authorities and private companies, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of countries such as Azerbaijan, Belarus, Tunisia, Turkey and others, as well as more than 20 diplomatic missions, including diplomats of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Korea took part in the event.

The session consisted of two parts, designed to introduce Korean e-government programs and international e-government cooperation programs, such as continuing education courses and forms of cooperation. Sultanov Ruslan, Advisor to the Director of the Agency’s e-Government and Digital Economy Project Management Center, acted as a speaker on behalf of Uzbekistan.

The report noted the promising areas of cooperation with Korean partners and the work done in the field of EP in Uzbekistan, it was also reported on the opening of the Uzbek-Korean center for cooperation on EP and CE in Tashkent in a month.

A working meeting was also held with the Minister of Public Administration and Security of the Republic of Korea and issues of further actions for the implementation of joint projects were discussed.

The event became an active discussion platform for the exchange of experience in the development of e-government, digital technologies and international relations.
