Uzbekistan, South Korea develop strategic e-government collaboration

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Republic of Korea headed by the President of the National Agency for Information Society of the Republic of Korea (NIA) Mr. Yen Sik Moon paid an official visit to Uzbekistan on 12 April 2019.

A meeting of the delegation of the Republic of Korea and representatives of the Electronic Government and Digital Economy Project Management Center was organized at the National Project Management Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the opening of the Uzbek-Korean Center for cooperation in the field of e-government and digital economy in Tashkent, which is scheduled for May, organizing short-term and long-term training courses for Agency specialists, attracting Korean experts to develop a draft e-government development concept Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as assistance in creating a single data center.

Also, the parties made a joint decision on the creation of a Working Group to coordinate issues on the opening of the Uzbek-Korean Center in Tashkent.

Following the talks, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the E-Government and Digital Economy Project Management Center at the National Project Management Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the National Information Society Agency of the Republic of Korea.

In March 2019, within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan of the delegation of the Republic of Korea led by the Deputy Minister of Public Administration and Security Mr. Yoon Jong Ying, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Agency for Project Management under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Public Administration and Republic of Korea security.

The memorandum identified cooperation in the introduction of new information technologies, the organization of educational programs and the exchange of experience in the field of e-government, conducting joint research, and providing technical assistance in creating a single data center in Uzbekistan.
