Uzbekistan, Russia discuss perspectives of cooperation in hockey

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Issues of hockey development in Uzbekistan were discussed during the meeting of the President - Chairman of the Board of the Continental Hockey League Dmitry Chernyshenko with the President of the Hockey Federation of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Fazylov and Deputy Head of FHU Kirill Matveyev, which was held on 19 February 2019 in Moscow, Russia.

The relevance of the dialogue is indicated by new opportunities that Uzbekistan discovers for itself in the revival, development and popularization of this sport. At the stage of completion of the construction of the first professional Ice Palace "Humo Arena" in Tashkent, projects are also launched for the construction of modern ice grounds in the regions of Uzbekistan.

These and many other initiatives, decisions made at the highest level require, in turn, professional approaches, taking into account progressive international, including Russian experience, where hockey today is one of the most dynamically developing sports.

During the conversation, the sides discussed issues of cooperation between basic organizations for development of hockey in the countries that are strategic partners. The mechanisms of interaction, possibility of hockey competitions with the participation of Russian professionals in the arena of the new ice palace are considered.

In particular, a preliminary agreement was reached on holding KHL away matches on the ice rink, which meets all international standards for holding ice hockey fights in the capital of Uzbekistan.

The meeting participants are confident that the dynamic development processes of one of the most popular sports in our country, taking into account the progressive Russian experience, will allow the Republic of Uzbekistan to designate its own presence on the international hockey map.
