Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has revised the entry fees for foreign freight transport, as outlined in the 2025 state budget law. The changes primarily affect trucks registered in Turkmenistan, with significant increases in fees.
Starting from 1 January 2025, new rates have been set for vehicles from Turkmenistan, depending on their weight. The entry fee is now US$130 for trucks weighing up to 10 tons, US$180 for vehicles weighing between 10 and 20 tons, and US$250 for trucks exceeding 20 tons. Previously, these fees were US$50, US$100, and US$150, respectively.
Additionally, the fee for transporting goods from third countries and exporting goods from Uzbekistan has increased. For trucks from Turkmenistan, the fee has risen from US$175 to US$375.
Differentiated tariffs have been introduced for vehicles from the European Union and Azerbaijan based on their length of stay. If the stay is up to 14 days, the fee is US$80, while for stays longer than 14 days, the fee is US$280.
The entry fee may be recalculated upon the vehicleUS$s departure from the country, based on its actual time spent in Uzbekistan.
Furthermore, a fee of US$400 has been established for each permit issued to foreign carriers for international freight transport exceeding the needs of national companies. A reduced coefficient of 0.5 applies to transit transport, while a higher coefficient of 2 applies to transport to/from third countries.
For vehicles from Iran, the entry fee is set to zero, in accordance with the principle of reciprocity.
Rates for other countries remain unchanged. Trucks from Tajikistan are charged US$100, US$150, and US$200 depending on their weight. Vehicles from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are charged a fee of US$300, while trucks from Afghanistan are charged US$50. A fee of US$400 applies for all other countries.
In October 2024, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan agreed on fair and transparent terms for transport fees. Starting in 2025, the fees for national carriers in both countries will be aligned. Additionally, the countries plan to implement an electronic permit exchange system (E-Permit), already successfully operating in cooperation with Turkey and Kazakhstan.
