Uzbekistan repatriates over 1,200 citizens in humanitarian initiative

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 30 July to 30 August, Uzbekistan carried out the humanitarian initiative “Return to the Homeland,” timed to coincide with World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the Dunyo news agency reported.

As part of the campaign, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions abroad assisted in the repatriation of citizens who had found themselves in difficult circumstances and were being held in deportation centers.

A total of 1,224 citizens were returned from 15 countries, including 654 women, 570 men, and 438 children. In addition, 2,113 compatriots received legal consultations in accordance with established procedures.

It was emphasized that citizens of Uzbekistan are under the protection of the state, regardless of which country they reside in.

The implementation of the President’s people-centered policy and initiatives to support compatriots abroad remains one of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ top priorities.
