Uzbekistan receives US$11.62 billion in remittances

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  In January-September 2024, the volume of cross-border remittances to Uzbekistan increased by 34.8%, reaching US$11.62 billion, Central Bank Chairman Mamarizo Nurmuratov reported at a press conference on 31 October.

According to the Central Bank, US$11.62 billion was transferred to Uzbekistan in the first nine months of this year, a significant increase compared to the same period in 2023, when the amount was US$8.4 billion.

July saw the highest volume of remittances, with US$1.78 billion received. By the end of October, the total volume of transfers amounted to US$12.5 billion.

Nurmuratov noted that transfers from Russia rose by 35% to US$8.75 billion, although its share decreased from 77% in the first half of the year to 75.3%.

Among other countries, South Korea sent US$420 million (an increase of 76%), Kazakhstan — US$625 million, the US — US$415 million, Türkiye — US$291 million, the UK — US$93 million (up by 67%), and Poland — US$48 million (almost doubled). Transfers from the UAE also rose by 66%.
