Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 12 to 18 December 2022, the XVI Eurasia International Film Festival was held in Almaty. The delegation of Uzbekistan also took part in it.
As a result of this large-scale event, Uzbek director Ali Khamraev received an award "For Contribution to the Development of Cinema in Central Asia", director Kamara Kamalova was awarded a special jury prize for the film "Road to Nowhere", Director General of the Film Agency Firdavs Abdukhalikov was awarded an honorary diploma "For a great contribution in the development of the Eurasian festival movement”.
In addition, within the framework of the film festival, meetings were held between the General Director of the Film Agency Firdavs Abdukhalikov and the Vice Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurkisa Daueshovys, the director of the Center for the Development of Cinematography of Kazakhstan Yesetzhan Kosubaev, the head of the largest network of cinemas in Kazakhstan "Kinopark" Yerlan Bukharbaev.
An important event on the sidelines of the film festival was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Tashkent branch of VGIK and the University of Turan. The document envisages the creation of joint student paintings, curricula and courses, conferences, forums, exchange of students and teachers, holding master classes, as well as mutual recognition of diplomas from two universities.
It is worth noting that the Eurasia International Film Festival is one of the largest and most respected film forums in the country, which has revived after a 2-year break. Such star guests as Kim Ki-duk, Emir Kusturica, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Michele Placido, Catherine Deneuve and others took part in the past film festivals in different years.
