Economy 05/11/2008 Uzbekistan receives 116.1bn soums from privatization

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan received 116.1 billion soums from denationalization and privatization in January-September 2008.

The country privatized 327 enterprises and objects within the framework of the State Programme on denationalization and privatization in the reporting period.

Largest number of objects was privatized in Tashkent city (23.9%), Tashkent region (21.1%), Kashkadarya region (7.3%), Namangan and Khorezm regions (7%) in the reporting period.

About 42.5% of privatized enterprises fell to share of property of local administrations, 15.6% - Ministry of Healthcare, 8.9% - Ministry of Public Education, 4.9% - Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management.

About 38.5% of total receipts were received from privatization of objects in Tashkent city, 18.7% - Tashkent region, 15.7% - Khorezm region and 14.2% - Syrdarya region.
