Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the first quarter of 2024, Uzbekistan received remittances worth US$2.5 billion, Chairman of the Central Bank Mamarizo Nurmuratov said.
According to him, the volume of cross-border remittances increased by 8.6% compared to the same period of last year.
The head of the Central Bank also noted changes in the structure of remittances.
He emphasized that the share of traditional countries is decreasing slightly, while the share of remittances from remote regions is increasing.
In general, the dynamics of remittances, the growth of wages in the economy and the increase in the incomes of self-employed persons contributed to an increase in real incomes of the population and aggregate demand, the head of the Central Bank added, noting an increase of 11.5 percent.
