Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Starting from 2025, Uzbekistan intends to implement a recycling fee for electric vehicle batteries, as reported by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The recycling fee will be charged to importers of finished products or local battery manufacturers, meaning that electric vehicle owners and individuals importing fully assembled cars will not be affected by this tax.

The fee will vary based on battery capacity: for passenger electric vehicles, it will range from 5,000 to 10,000 soums, while for electric trucks, it will be approximately 370,000 soums.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance expects to collect around 14 billion soums from this initiative, with the funds allocated to the Ministry of Ecology.
