Finance 21/07/2014 Uzbekistan plans to attract grants for US$975.35m in 2014-2016

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan is planning to attract over US$975.35 million of grants to implementation of 467 new projects in 2014-2016.

The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures on attracting to Uzbekistan of no-string technical assistance (grants) of donor countries, international and foreign governmental and non-governmental organizations for 2014-2016” on 11 July 2014.

According to the resolution, Uzbekistan preliminary agreed 88 projects with donor countries, international and foreign governmental and non-governmental organizations. Total sum of these projects makes up over US$243.246 million, of which US$238.42 million will be donor resources and US$4.826 million – resources of the Uzbek side.

Uzbekistan also works over 56 projects worth US$383.769 million with donor-countries, international and foreign governmental and non-governmental organizations. It is expected that donors will allocate US$351.707 and the Uzbek side – US$32.062 million.

The Government of Uzbekistan also approved list of the most perspective projects of no-string technical assistance (grant), offered to donor-countries, international and foreign governmental and non-governmental organizations in 2014-2016.

The list includes 291 projects with total cost of US$348.33 million, of which US$323.642 million will be resources of donors and US$24.691 million – resources of the Uzbek side.

The projects, included to the programme, are directed at developing educational, healthcare, agriculture and water management, clean water supply and sanitation, economy, industry, financial markets, entrepreneurship, raising energy efficiency and developing renewable energy, etc.
