Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Discussions are underway in Uzbekistan’s Syrdarya region on new industrial initiatives involving Chinese businesses as part of a regional delegation’s visit to the People’s Republic of China.

The negotiations are being led by Syrdarya region governor Erkinjon Turdimov and are focused on the development of the chemical industry and the expansion of export-oriented production.

The meetings with representatives of Chinese companies are aimed at implementing tasks previously set by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a sectoral meeting on March 11 of this year. The discussions center on launching new production facilities, attracting investment, and establishing modern high value-added enterprises.

The parties reviewed prospects for cooperation with several organizations, including TK China Group, China Ocean Capital, the industrial center of Tianjin University of Technology, the Institute of Modern Architecture of Huajian Group, and the Uzbekistan–China Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

One of the key projects under discussion is the creation of a large chemical industrial zone covering 100 hectares in Akaltyn district. The project is expected to include around 200 investment initiatives aimed at expanding production capacity and strengthening the region’s export potential.

The talks also addressed the introduction of modern technologies, development of industrial infrastructure, and creation of new jobs.

Participants exchanged views on mechanisms for attracting foreign investment and improving the efficiency of production chains oriented toward external markets.
