Uzbekistan nominates Victor Chub to WMO Presidency
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan nominated Victor Chub, director-general of Uzgidromet and Permanent Representatives of Uzbekistan at WMO, for the post of the President of World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

The Sixteenth WMO Congress will be held in May 2011 in Geneva, Switzerland, and the WMO President will be elected at the congress.

Victor Chub said in letter to WMO management and member states that the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan will submit verbal note via its Permanent Mission in the UN and embassy.

Chub said many problems occur in the earth related to climate change, desertification and natural disasters. Development and improvement of national meteorological services need more support and attention by the WMO and other organizations.

He said that he would make his best efforts to support modernization and improvement of national meteorological services, in particular in developing countries, if he elected to the post of the WMO President.
