Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During a visit to UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, the Chairperson of the Art and Culture Development Foundation Gayane Umerova, and the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to UNESCO Kamol Mukhtarov, met with the Chair of the UNESCO Executive Board, Véra Lacoeuille.
Uzbekistan has nominated itself for a seat on the UNESCO Executive Board for the 2027-2030 term, reaffirming its commitment to the organization’s goals and its readiness to contribute to its activities.
During the meeting, Uzbekistan’s commitment to UNESCO’s objectives, including fostering intercultural dialogue, was emphasized, alongside the country’s intention to continue its active participation in the organization’s work.
The discussions also included recommendations for advancing Uzbekistan’s candidacy and the introduction of new initiatives to be considered by the Executive Board ahead of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, which will take place in Samarkand in November 2025.
