At the meeting, it was noted that fruitful bilateral cooperation is based on firm legal fundament and covers such areas as trustful political dialogue, inter-parliamentary and inter-departmental contacts, mutual beneficial trade-economic and transport-communication relations, as well as cultural-humanitarian areas.

The sides also considered schedule of upcoming contacts at various levels for short-term perspective and 2013.

The sides discussed issues of expanding bilateral trade and investment cooperation. Significant growth of bilateral trade turnover in 2011 and continuation of positive trends this year indicates mutual interest to deepen interaction in this area. The sides expressed readiness to further support of contacts among business circles of Uzbekistan and Latvia, exchange visit of business delegation, hold bilateral forums, presentations on financial-technical and investment potential of two countries.

Existence of air communication between Tashkent and Riga, as it was noted, is important precondition for development of relations in tourism sector.

The sides noted that it is important to expand contacts among scientific-research institutions, representatives of science, culture and art, as well as ensure participation of representatives of two countries in corresponding events.

At the consultations, the sides considered other issues of the Uzbek-Latvian cooperation.
