The state-owned Uzkhlopkoprom association produced 727,255 tonnes of cotton fiber in January-August, 12.4% more on the year, while enterprises with foreign participation produced 2,378 tonnes, compared with about 9,000 tonnes produced in the same period in 2007.

In 2007 Uzbekistan’s cotton harvest fell by 0.6%% on the year to 3.61 million tonnes and cotton fiber output fell by 3.9% to 1.125 million tonnes.
