Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov proposed introducing a new type of special equipment for the sanitary cleaning service. Instead of existing garbage trucks, it is proposed to use scooters, which are more convenient and economical.

The special scooter is capable of covering up to 80 km per day and can make 1-2 trips per day. Its advantage over large garbage trucks is the ability to transport sorted waste directly to a transfer station, eliminating the need for re-sorting. This will save costs and improve waste processing in the eco-cluster organized at landfills.

The purchase price of one scooter is 32 million soums, which is 27 times cheaper than the cost of a heavy-duty garbage truck, which is 869 million soums. In terms of annual maintenance, repair and labor costs, scooters are also 14 times more economical, and in terms of fuel consumption - 5 times.

The scooters are powered by electricity, which will create an additional 27 jobs. They are designed to transport sorted waste into categories: recyclable, non-recyclable and food. Unlike current vehicles, scooters will be able to immediately sort waste, which will improve recycling options.

For testing, it is planned to purchase 150 scooters (50 scooters of each of three types) with platforms for separate transportation of waste. Experimental tests will be carried out in all regions of the republic.
