Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has introduced state registration for mopeds and scooters. The corresponding resolution was adopted by the Government of Uzbekistan.

License plates for mopeds and scooters (types XI1 and XIE1) will be square-shaped and designed similarly to motorcycle plates. They will feature 3 digits in the upper row and 3 letters in the lower row.

Type XI1 plates will be issued for mopeds, while type XIE1 (with a green background in the regional code field) will be for scooters. XIE type plates will now be exclusively for electric motorcycles.

Special plates with a yellow background will be introduced for non-resident motorcycle owners. Motorcycle plates will have the format 000 HH, while moped and scooter plates will be 000 HHH.

Similar to motorcycles, only one license plate will be installed on the rear of mopeds and scooters.

The Government has instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Agency for Technical Regulation to develop regulations for the new license plates within three months.

According to the document, motorcycle transport will be categorized into motorcycles, electric motorcycles, mopeds, and scooters.
