Uzbekistan Introduces Fines for Failing to Meet Alcohol Production Targets
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is introducing financial penalties for alcohol producers that fail to meet approved production targets.
The corresponding resolution was adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers on 14 July.
Under the new regulation, if the volume of alcohol-based beverage production during the first half of the year falls below 60% of the approved target, the enterprise will be required to pay a fine equal to 50% of the assessed excise tax.
However, if the company compensates for the shortfall in the second half of the year and reaches the required production capacity utilization, the previously imposed fine will be refunded.
The Alcohol and Tobacco Market Regulation Inspectorate is tasked with overseeing compliance with these requirements.
During inspections, not only the amount of ethyl alcohol purchased and used and the actual output will be assessed, but also other indicators—including water and electricity consumption in production, as well as the timeliness and completeness of tax payments.
