Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The government of Uzbekistan has approved an increase in the recycling fee for electric vehicles (HS Code 8703 80). A corresponding resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers was published on 31 January 2025.

The new recycling fee rates depend on the age of the electric vehicle:

For vehicles less than three years old — 120 sizes of basic estimated value (45 million soums).

For vehicles older than three years — 210 sizes of basic estimated value (78.75 million soums).

This resolution applies exclusively to fully electric vehicles, while hybrid vehicles remain exempt from its provisions.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance, in cooperation with the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade, has been tasked with developing a procedure for collecting and effectively utilizing the recycling fee within two months.

The increased recycling fee rates will take effect on 1 May 2025.

Previously, as of 1 August 2020, the recycling fee for electric vehicles was set at 30 sizes of basic estimated value (for vehicles less than three years old) and 90 sizes of basic estimated value (for vehicles older than three years).
