Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan, according to the Statistics Agency, imported natural gas worth US$462.8 million in January-April 2024. This is three times more compared to the same period in 2023, when the volume of supplies amounted to US$153.1 million.
Uzbekistan imported US$694.9 million worth of gas in 2023. In the first four months of 2024, the country had already imported 66% of its total gas imports for the entire previous year.
According to the Agency, in January 2024 the volume of gas imports amounted to US$35.6 million, in February - US$131.1 million, in March - US$193.5 million and in April - US$102.6 million.
Gas exports from Uzbekistan in January-April 2024 made up US$52.3 million, which is almost 2.3 times less than for the same period in 2023, when exports amounted to US$117.9 million. In January, gas exports amounted to US$31 million, in February - US$5.7 million, in March - US$18.7 million, and in April - US$6.9 million.
