Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan sharply increased imports of natural gas from Turkmenistan in September 2023, according to data from the State Statistics Agency.
In September, Uzbekistan imported natural gas from Turkmenistan worth US$281.6 million, more than double the figure for the eight months of 2023.
Since the beginning of the year, Uzbekistan has imported natural gas worth US$487.9 million. The increase compared to the same period in 2022 was 83.4%.
In the reporting period, Uzbekistan reduced gas exports to US$411.7 million. In September, Uzbekistan exported gas worth US$41.62 million to China.
In August 2023, Turkmengaz and UzGasTrade signed a contract for the supply of natural gas in the amount of 2 billion cubic meters per year.
