Uzbekistan holds 170th place on Internet download speed
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is on 170th place among 188 countries of the world on download speed of Internet, according to the rating of NetIndex.

According to the rating, made as of 4 January 2014, the download speed in Uzbekistan makes up 2.42 megabit per second.

NetIndex said that the data on Uzbekistan was received in the result of analysis of data from 6 December 2013 to 4 January 2014. Over 60,720 IP-addresses were used for analysis.

At the same time, the company said over 193,210 tests were conducted, and results of 11,700 tests were used to develop the index.

According to NetIndex, the download speed of Internet in Uzbekistan made up 3.18 megabit per second.

The download speed of six operators in Uzbekistan, according to NeIndex, exceeds 2.42 Mbps - Ucell (13.18 Mbps), Inform-Service TV Ltd. (9.1 Mbps), Beeline (5.95 Mbps), Turon Telecom (4.39 Mbps) and TEXNOPROSISTEM (2.86 Mbps), as well as Gals-telecom (2.6 Mbps).

Uzbekistan holds 124th place in the world on upload speed of Internet. The speed makes up 1.95 Mbps for Uzbekistan and 2.83 Mbps for Tashkent.

Six operators have higher upload speed compared t 1.95 Mbps – Ucell (10.6 Mbps), Inform-Service TV Ltd. (10.54 Mbps), Turon Telecom (4.23 Mbps), Beeline (4.18 Mbps) and TEXNOPROSISTEM (2.65 Mbps), as well as Gals-telecom (2.52 Mbps).

Hong Kong (download: 69.38 Mbps, upload: 57.74 Mbps) and Singapore (59.53 Mbps, 44.53 Mbps) are holding the first and the second place in the rating of NetIndex respectivelt.

According to the data of the State Committee for Communication, Information and Telecommunication Technologies of Uzbekistan, as of 1 October 2013 the speed of access to international information networks (internet) in Uzbekistan makes up 9.6 Gbps.

As of 1 October 2013, there were 924 operators and providers in Uzbekistan, according to the data of the committee.

In early December 2013, President of Uzbekistan stated that number of internet users in Uzbekistan (except mobile internet users) rose by 18.3% year-on-year to 7.1 million people.
