The UFF said that the team will participate at the tournament without Brazilian head coach Sergio Sapo, who is currently in Brazil due to family reasons. Bakhodir Ahmedov, his assistant, will replace him at the tournament.

The federation said that Sergio Sapo asked Uzbekistan Football Federation to allow him to stay in Brazil till the end of 2011. It is still unknown if he gets permission or he will be replaced by other coach.

Uzbekistan will participate in four-nation tournament in Baku. On 5 February, Uzbekistan will face Azerbaijan and a day later play against Belarus. On 7 February, Uzbekistan will play against Latvia.
