During the session, the sides discussed current state and perspectives of bilateral cooperation, including in economy, trade, investment and energy. The sides exchanged opinion on regional and international issues.
It was said that the January visit of the Uzbek president Islam Karimov to Brussels and his negotiations with the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso played important role in developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Commission.
Participants expressed interest in deepening mutual beneficial cooperation in bilateral format and within implementation of the EU Strategy for Centreal Asia. It was noted that Ministerial meeting “EU-Central Asia”, held in Tashkent three months ago, played positive role in strengthening interregional cooperation.
Within the event, the delegation of Uzbekistan held negotiations with the EU Commissioner for development Andris Piebalgs, chairperson of the Committee on external affairs of European parliament Gabriele Albertini. The sides considered perspectives of bilateral cooperation
During the visit of the Uzbek delegation to Brussels, the presentation of trade-economic and investment potential of Uzbekistan was held at Walloon Export and Foreign Investment Agency, which attracted interest of Belgian business circles.
