Uzbekistan establishes diplomatic relations with Saint Lucia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 10 September, in New York, a Joint Communiqué was signed establishing diplomatic relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Saint Lucia, the Dunyо News Agency reports.
The document was signed on behalf of the two governments by Uzbekistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov, and Saint Lucia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Menissa Rambally.
The parties confirmed their readiness to develop cooperation within international organizations, primarily the UN and its specialized agencies, and agreed to intensify bilateral contacts to explore new areas of mutually beneficial collaboration in political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The signing of the document marks an important step in expanding Uzbekistan’s presence in the Caribbean region. Saint Lucia, an island nation located in the eastern Caribbean Sea, became the 163rd country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations.
It is noted that earlier, on 10 July 2025, Tashkent signed a similar document with African Eritrea.
