Uzbekistan-Emirates Business Forum Held in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14 October, a business forum between Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates took place in Tashkent, as part of the visit by a business delegation led by the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

This event was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Abu Dhabi, the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The forum was attended by Dilshod Rasulov, Deputy Chairman of the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ali Saeed bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, First Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Secretary-General of the UAE Federation of Chambers of Commerce, heads of relevant ministries, agencies, industry associations, and approximately 200 business representatives from both countries.

In his address to the forum participants, Davron Vakhabov thanked the numerous Iranian business delegation for their visit and expressed hope that such events would provide further opportunities to strengthen trade and economic relations between the two countries.

The main theme of the event was strengthening bilateral relations between the business communities of both countries as a crucial factor for the further development of investment and trade-economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE.

During the event, presentations were made on the most promising areas for attracting investment, as well as on Uzbekistan’s investment potential in priority sectors and available project proposals.

It was noted with satisfaction that the friendly and neighborly relations between the two countries are developing rapidly. In 2023, bilateral trade turnover amounted to US$625 million, with exports totaling US$261 million and imports US$364 million. From January to May 2024, the trade turnover reached US$229 million, with exports at US$82 million and imports at US$146 million.

Currently, there are more than 320 enterprises with Iranian capital operating in Uzbekistan, including 120 joint ventures and over 200 foreign enterprises.

The forum discussed prospective projects in industries such as manufacturing, innovation, education, tourism, transport logistics, textiles, construction, agriculture, and food production. Additionally, B2B meetings were held between representatives of UAE business circles and Tashkent entrepreneurs.

During the visit, the Iranian delegation will also hold meetings with relevant ministries and agencies, visit free economic and industrial zones, and inspect production facilities.
