Uzbekistan determined main directions of tariff policy in the fuel and energy sector until 2035

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan has determined the main directions of tariff policy in the fuel and energy sector until 2035.

A resolution “On additional measures to improve tariff policy in the fuel and energy sector” was adopted, which approved the following main directions of tariff policy:

1. Establishing competitive and fair tariffs for consumers of electricity and natural gas.

2. Ensuring the financial stability and investment attractiveness of the energy network.

3. Expansion, modernization and diversification of production capacities, including projects on public-private partnership (PPP) terms, increasing the efficiency of production activities, improving the quality of products and services.

4. Phased abolition of repeated subsidies in tariff setting and provision of social protection for the poor and low-income segments of the population through the provision of targeted subsidies.

5. Establishing transparent, consistent and predictable regulation in the fuel and energy sector, including the gradual introduction of long-term tariff setting to reduce regulatory risk for investors.

6. Ensuring the sale of electricity and natural gas to the population on the basis of a unified pricing policy in all regions of the republic by 2035.

The document also approved:

- Regulations on the procedure for setting tariffs for electricity and natural gas;

- Composition of the Interdepartmental Commission on Tariffs under the Cabinet of Ministers;

- Regulations on the Interdepartmental Commission on Tariffs.

The document will come into force on 1 April 2025.
