Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic will start to implement a project, funded by a grant from NATO, on observations of surface deformation, the Czech Embassy in Uzbekistan said.

The embassy said that the Czech geologists received grant from NATO’s Science for Peace and Security, which will allow to revive contacts between Czech and Uzbek geologists at official level.

Total volume of issued financial resources is 280,000 euros, of which 85% will fell to share of the Uzbek side. Half of resources will be used to purchase special equipment and tools for the Uzbek geologists. The grant will be used within three years, the embassy said.

The project will carry out observation of vertical deformation of mountain ranges. The attention will be directed to changes, caused by the movement of the mountain slopes and anthropogenic (human-induced) changes, especially deformation of dams and security of dams at large rivers.
