Uzbekistan, Czech Republic discuss bilateral relations, international issue
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Fifth round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic was held in Prague on 27 May 2011. The event was attended by Tomas Dub, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

The sides discussed the Uzbek-Czech relations in politics, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian spheres. The sides noted dynamic development of cooperation of two states within the international structures such as the UN and OSCE, as well as Uzbekistan-EU dialogue, as well as implementation of the EU strategy on Central Asia.

The sides also exchanged opinions on ways of achievement of peace in Afghanistan, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

The sides underlined interest in deepening and expanding cooperation in trade-economic and investment sectors. It was noted that the relations between business circles of two states is expanding and the sides are implementing agreements of the Uzbek-Czech Intergovernmental commission on economic, industrial and scientific-technical cooperation, business forums and other business events.

It was stated that it is necessary to study opportunities on implementation of joint investment projects in food and pharmaceutical industries, processing of agricultural products, production of construction materials, as well as participation of the Czech companies in the projects on modernization and re-equipment of industry of Uzbekistan, including within the Navoi free industrial and economic zone, would develop trade-economic relations.

The sides underlined mutual interest in further development of cooperation in tourism through participation in tourism fairs, organized in Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic.

It is planned that the next round of political consultations will be held in Tashkent in 2012.

During the visit to the Czech Republic, the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan held a meeting with the vice minister of the industry and trade Milan Hovorka. The delegation held negotiations with the parliamentary friendship group “Czech Republic – Central Asia and Caucasus” and participated at the business roundtable, which was attended by business circles and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic. The delegation visited Tedom, which is producer of equipment for electricity and heating production from gas.
