Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A 74-year-old Uzbek citizen, who arrived in Istanbul as a tourist and was left without documents and money after being robbed, has been returned to her homeland.

On 4 October, around 20:05, K.G. reached out to the General Consulate of Uzbekistan, seeking assistance in returning home, as she found herself in a difficult situation without funds or documents.

It was determined that the woman had arrived in Istanbul from Tashkent on September 27 as a tourist. On October 4, her wallet was stolen in one of Türkiye’s shopping centers.

Taking into account her age and the fact that she had a return ticket, the consulate quickly issued a temporary return certificate and helped her get to the airport.

The General Consulate strongly advises Uzbek citizens in Türkiye to take precautions, keep passports and personal belongings in secure places, and prepare copies of important documents in advance.
