Uzbekistan collected one point from two first matches and the goal of the team was to win the match against Vietnam. Mirjalol Kasimov’s side controlled the ball from the first minutes and created chance to score, but failed to convert them into goals.

Uzbekistan netted two goals in the first half of the game, but the referee disallowed both goals.

Mirjalal Kasimov made several changes and fielded youngster Jamshid Iskanderov, Sardor Rashidov and Igor Sergeev, who strengthened the team. On 69 minutes, substitute Sardor Rashidov opened the score after his shot from 23 meters.

Five minutes later Aleksander Geinrikh doubled the lead of Uzbekistan. Server Jeperov gave a pass to Sanjar Tursunov from corner kick and Tursunov beat several defenders and passed to Geinrikh, who did no mistake from 3 meters.

On 78 minutes, defenders of Uzbekistan committed a mistake and Hoang pulled a goal back for Vietnam. Vietnam continued to press for an equalizer, but conceded third goal on the first minute of added time. Igor Sergeev scored after pass of Jamshid Iskanderov.

This is the first victory of Uzbekistan within the AFC Asian Cup 2015 qualification round. Uzbekistan has four points after three matches and now holds the second place in Group E. The UAE won all three games to top the group. Hong Kong has four points and Vietnam – 0.

Uzbekistan will travel to Hanoi to play against Vietnam on 15 October. Four days later Hong Kong will entertain Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan will receive the UAE in March 2014 in last match game of the group.
