Uzbekistan - China: today and prospects of cooperation in the field of human rights

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 July, the National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a roundtable discussion on the topic "Global trends and regional features in the field of human rights: Uzbekistan-China theory". This event was organized in cooperation with the Chinese Society for the Study of Human Rights.

The roundtable discussion was opened and conducted by Akmal Saidov, First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

As A. Saidov noted, thanks to the promising strategic cooperation policy jointly pursued by the leaders of Uzbekistan and China, in the following years, mutual cooperation relations between our countries in various fields, including the field of human rights, have risen to new and higher levels.

The event was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Society for the Study of Human Rights, Jiang Jiang, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Uzbekistan, Yu Jijun, who gave an introductory speech.

Professor Mao Junxiang, director of the Chinese Society for the Study of Human Rights, gave a lecture on "Human Rights in Globalization as a Factor of International Relations: China’s Experience." Also, the reports of Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan Askar Gafurov on the topic "Activity of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of human rights protection" and Eldor Tulyakov, executive director of the "Strategy of Development" center, on the topic "Priority goals of the Uzbekistan-2030" strategy, were heard.

The purpose of this roundtable discussion by the speakers is to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in the field of human rights and exchange comprehensive experience, as well as to discuss current global trends and regional aspects of human rights protection, joint efforts aimed at improving the human rights situation in both countries. it was emphasized that it consists of developing strategies and initiatives.

Attention was drawn to the fact that mutual relations between Uzbekistan and China are becoming more active in all areas of bilateral relations, and multilateral dialogues are strengthening. It was specially recognized that our countries support each other on regional and international issues.

At the event, the Chinese guests were presented with comprehensive information about the progress achieved in the field of human rights in our country, as well as the results of large-scale reforms implemented within the framework of the implementation of priority tasks defined in the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy. Detailed information was given about the efforts to implement the norms of the new version of the Constitution.

During the meeting, full of intense discussions, held in a friendly and friendly spirit, the parties agreed to further develop and strengthen cooperation in the field of human rights. Confidence was expressed that these dialogues will be of great practical importance in deepening Uzbekistan-China cooperation in the field of human rights.

Members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and deputies of the Legislative Chamber, the Constitutional Court, the General Prosecutor’s Office, Academies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tashkent State Law University, State and Law Institute of the Academy of Sciences, representatives of national human rights institutions, and civil society activists participated in the roundtable discussion. More than 40 experts from state bodies, scientific and educational institutions and non-governmental organizations participated in the event.
