Uzbekistan chess players take second place at the world team championship

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan chess players took second place at the World Team Championship in Israel, Dunyo news agency reported.

The national team included 20-year-old Nodirbek Yakubboev, 16-year-old Javokhir Sindarov, 27-year-old Jahongir Vakhidov, 20-year-old Shamsiddin Vohidov, 20-year-old Abdumalik Abdusalimov and 22-year-old Ortik Nigmatov.

In the first round, Uzbekistan lost to Azerbaijan, then defeated Israel, the USA, India and tied with Poland.

In the quarterfinals of the tournament, the Uzbeks defeated rivals from Ukraine, in the semifinals they beat the Indian team.

The first place of the championship was won by the Chinese chess players, the third place was taken by the national team of Spain.

At the chess tournament in Israel, individual awards were also played for the best on each board.

Javokhir Sindarov won gold on the second board, and Jahongir Vakhidov won silver on the fourth board.

The World Team Chess Championship is a competition of chess national teams, which has been held by the International Chess Federation since 1985. It was attended by 12 strongest teams in the world based on the results of chess Olympiads and team continental championships.
